This is the perfect opportunity to savor local cuisine, experience the vibrant culture, and get a first glimpse of life in Nepal.
DAY 2 -DRIVE FROM KATHMANDU – BESISAHAR (750 m / 2,460 ft)- DHARAPANI (1,860m / 6,102ft)
DAY 3 :TREK FROM DHARAPANI TO CHAME
After an early breakfast, we begin our journey toward Besisahar, enjoying scenic views of rivers and villages in the Lamjung district. We stop along the way for lunch before continuing by jeep toward Dharapani, a drive of 3–4 hours. Upon arrival, we settle into a hotel for an overnight stay, resting and preparing for the trek ahead.
DAY 4: TREKKING FROM CHAME TO UPPER PISANG( 1,300 M )
The day’s trek begins with a scenic walk through a dense forest dominated by towering rock cliffs, providing a dramatic backdrop as you gradually ascend to around 3,000 meters. The trail winds through natural landscapes filled with pine and rhododendron trees, creating a peaceful and invigorating start to your journey.
As the valley gradually opens up, the scenery transforms into something truly spectacular. Massive rock formations stretch along a sweeping river bend, forming a breathtakingly inclined plane that defines the grandeur of the Manang Valley. The unique geological features combined with the surrounding Himalayan peaks create a view that is both awe-inspiring and humbling.
We continue to the Tibetan-influenced village of Pisang, a charming settlement rich in culture and tradition. Here, we stay in a distinctive tea house built using 152 prayer wheels, adding a spiritual and cultural dimension to your stay. In Pisang, you can immerse yourself in local life, witness traditional Tibetan architecture, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere while taking in panoramic mountain vistas. This overnight stop provides an excellent opportunity to rest, acclimatize, and reflect on the stunning landscapes experienced along the way.
DAY 5: TREKKING FORM PISANG TO NGAWAL (3,600M)
Today’s trek offers some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world. The trail leads to the massive glacier barrier that envelopes the northern slopes of Annapurna IV, II, III, Gangapurna, and Tarke Gyang—a truly breathtaking sight that is a highlight of the journey.
We ascend to Ghyaru, a charming village perched at 3,670 meters, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. The village itself is rich in traditional culture, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle of the local communities who have lived in harmony with this rugged environment for generations.
From Ghyaru, the trail follows the scenic “balcony route,” a pathway that clings to the mountainside and rewards trekkers with stunning vistas at every turn. Along this trail, we descend gently toward Ngawal, another picturesque village at 3,600 meters, where we spend the night in a comfortable tea house or lodge. This segment of the trek is as much about experiencing the awe-inspiring Himalayan landscapes as it is about immersing yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the region.
DAY 6: TREKKING FROM NGAWAL TO MANANG VILLAGE (3,500M)
Today’s trek takes us along a scenic path winding through junipers and rose hips, often dusty but filled with charm, as we descend from the village of Ngawal. The trail leads to Braga, a stunning village nestled at the base of dramatic, horseshoe-shaped rock formations. The location is incredibly photogenic, offering ample opportunities to capture the beauty of the surrounding mountains and unique geological features.
In Braga, we visit the 13th-century monastery, one of the oldest in the region. The monastery and the village are tucked among fairy chimneys, with some ancient frescoes located in very dark sections—headlamps are recommended to fully appreciate these historical treasures. After exploring this enchanting village, we continue for a few more kilometers (about an hour) to reach Manang, the final authentic settlement in the Marsyangdi Valley.
Manang is a picturesque village that serves as a base camp for trekkers preparing for the ascent to Thorung La Pass and the high-altitude regions beyond. The combination of cultural immersion, architectural marvels, and stunning natural scenery makes this day a highlight of the trek.
DAY 7: ACCLIMATIZATION
Today is dedicated to acclimatization in the charming village of Manang to help prevent altitude sickness and prepare for the higher reaches ahead. The day offers ample opportunities to explore the surrounding area at a relaxed pace. Trekkers may choose to visit the stunning Ice Lake, known for its crystal-clear waters reflecting the towering peaks, or venture to Gangapurna Lake, another breathtaking alpine gem.
This day of acclimatization not only helps your body adjust to the altitude but also provides a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture. Interact with the friendly villagers, observe traditional practices, and take in the serene Himalayan landscapes. It’s the perfect blend of rest, exploration, and cultural experience before continuing the journey toward higher elevations.
DAY 8: TREKKING FROM MANAG TO LEDER (4,200M)
Today’s trek takes us on a gradual ascent across expansive mountain pastures, where large yaks graze peacefully against the backdrop of the majestic Annapurna range. The panoramic views of snow-capped peaks stretching across the horizon are simply breathtaking and offer countless photo opportunities.
This section of the trek provides an excellent opportunity for acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust comfortably to higher altitudes. As you walk, keep an eye out for wildlife, including the elusive bharal, commonly known as “blue sheep,” which are native to the Himalayan region.
We spend the night in the charming village of Ledar, a serene and traditional settlement that offers a cozy lodge or tea house stay, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The combination of gentle trekking, panoramic scenery, and cultural immersion makes this day both refreshing and rewarding.
DAY 9: TREKKING FORM LEDER TO THORONG HIGH CAMP
Today’s trek begins with a gentle climb through short alpine meadows before descending to cross a sparkling stream cascading from the peaks along the Tibet border. The trail offers increasingly dramatic scenery as the landscape transitions into a rocky, high-altitude environment.
After 3 to 3.5 hours of trekking, we arrive at Thorung Phedi, the base camp for the ascent to Thorung La Pass. The terrain here becomes more rugged and mineral-rich, reflecting the stark beauty of the high Himalayas. Depending on availability, we spend the night at either the High Camp Lodge (4,800 m) or the Thorung Phedi Lodge (4,500 m), allowing for proper acclimatization.
For those continuing, an additional hour of trekking takes you up a steep, zigzagging slope through a dramatic rocky amphitheater to reach High Camp. The entire day provides both a physical challenge and an opportunity to absorb the breathtaking, otherworldly landscapes of the region.
DAY 10: TREKKING FROM HIGH CAMP -THORONGLA LA PASS 5420M - MUKTHNINATH (3,700M)
Today is the highlight of the trek: the ascent to Thorung La Pass. We begin very early, between 3:30 and 5:00 a.m., to avoid the fierce winds and ensure we reach the pass before 9:00 a.m., making the most of the day. The climb is steady and gradual, allowing time to pace yourself, stay hydrated, and take in the gradually changing landscape.
As the sun rises, it casts a warm glow over the surrounding 6,000-meter peaks, illuminating the Annapurna, Chulu, and Dhaulagiri massifs. The crossing also offers sweeping views of the desert foothills of Mustang and Dolpo, making the challenging effort of the past several days incredibly rewarding.
After reaching the pass and savoring the remarkable vistas, we begin a long descent toward Muktinath, located at the gateway to Mustang. The village’s stunning setting continues to impress, with lush poplars and willows lining the area. Muktinath is a sacred destination for both Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims, who gather here to perform rituals, making it a vibrant cultural and spiritual highlight of the trek.
DAY 11: TREKKING MUKTINATH TO MARPHA (2,500M)
Today’s trek follows the scenic Kali Gandaki Valley, offering a journey that is both culturally rich and visually stunning. The trail passes through traditional villages such as Kagbeni and Jomsom, apple orchards, and arid landscapes shaped by the Himalayan rain shadow, providing a unique blend of natural and cultural experiences.
Our destination is Marpha, a charming village famous for its apple orchards and apple-based products, including jams and brandy. The village’s stone-paved streets, traditional architecture, and tranquil atmosphere create a perfect setting to unwind and soak in the local culture. We will spend the night in a comfortable lodge, enjoying the serene surroundings and the hospitality of the region.
DAY 12: DRIVE TO POKHARA
After breakfast, we embark on a scenic drive from Marpha to Pokhara, covering approximately 8–9 hours. The journey takes us through the breathtaking Kali Gandaki Valley, with its terraced fields, traditional villages, and dramatic Himalayan landscapes unfolding along the route.
