Mustang Region
Upper Mustang region in the north-central part of Nepal, bordering Tibet. The history of Mustang merges with Tibet, of which it was for centuries one of the kingdoms, before being attached to Nepa. It is a remote and restricted area that has only been open to foreign tourists since 1992. The culture and traditions of the people in Upper Mustang have been influenced by their proximity to Tibet, and they practice a form of Tibetan Buddhism. The region is a restricted area, and trekkers need a special permit to enter. A trip combining trek, culture, and traditions in an ancient Tibetan kingdom terrain of Upper Mustang is unique and different from other trekking regions,semi-arid desert-like landscape
