We want to let you know about the flights to Lukla that could impact your travel plans. During busy seasons (March, April, May, October, and November), flights to Lukla depart from Ramechhap/Manthali, which is a 5 to 6-hour drive from Kathmandu. In quieter times (January, February, June, July, August, September, and December), flights operate from Kathmandu itself.

Please note that airlines decide on flight operations based on passenger numbers each month. Factors like bad weather, airport congestion, runway conditions, and terrain challenges often cause delays or cancellations of Lukla flights. Therefore, if you're planning a trek in the Everest region, it's wise to allow an extra day or two in your schedule. This buffer can help you manage any flight disruptions and ensure you catch your international flight back home without stress.

Trip Organization

Everest Three pass Trek details

Your guide, from your arrival in Kathmandu until your departure, is responsible for the success of your trip and oversees your team. Do not hesitate to ask him questions, respect his position as the team leader, and above all follow his advice! Often your guide is the only English-speaking member of the team. In the mountains and, especially when during high-altitude travels, your guide is responsible for the safety of the group. The instructions he gives and the remarks he makes to all participants must be carefully followed. The interest and safety of the trekking group must be preserved, even when it may be to the detriment of an individual member of the group.

Being in good health is essential to fully enjoy your Alpinist Club trip. If your last medical visit was more than four years ago, please get another general physical exam and tell your doctor the nature of your trip (climate, altitude, difficulty, etc.). The altitude also has the effect of reviving dental problems or other chronic pain, so getting a dental checkup is also prudent. If you are undertaking a high-altitude expedition, we advise you to consult a mountain medicine specialist.

Acute Mountain Sickness in Everest Three pass Trek
This trip takes place at high altitudes, so some people may experience altitude-related discomforts like headaches, loss of appetite, and swelling of limbs. Most of these symptoms usually go away within a few days, but sometimes they can develop into a serious illness: pulmonary or cerebral edema. There are no preventive drugs for AMS. The services will not be modified and the conditions of the trip will be identical as a result.

The Everest Three Pass Trek is considered one of the most challenging treks. It is moderately difficult where you need to be physically fit. It is suitable for trekkers who have experience in high-altitude trekking. We recommend you do the Everest Base Camp Trek and Gokyo Trek before doing this.

The ideal time to do this trek is pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. You can attempt this trek from September to December for the best trekking experience. It is also possible to do this trek in early February and September.

The maximum height of the Everest Three Pass Trek is 5,553 m( 18,159 feet ) located at Kongma La Pass. This is the highest altitude of the trek the trekkers cross, followed by Cho La Pass at 5,420 meters ( 17,782 feet ) and Renjo La Pass at 5,340 meters ( 17,520 feet).

You will be sleeping at the lodges that offer comfortable night stays throughout the trail. They have two beds in each room including the western facilities. They have clean and comfortable beds with attached bathrooms.

No, you don’t have to carry crampons if you are trekking during the seasons.  You might require the crampons only if you are trekking during the winter and monsoon seasons.

No, usually you don’t need oxygen for the trek. We have designed the itinerary in such a way that it provides enough acclimatization. Moreover, we will provide you with Diamox altitude for controlling sickness symptoms from the beginning of the trek to the end.In case of emergency altitude sickness, we will descend to a lower altitude as early as possible.

Most of the area of the trek has network coverage either by NCell or NTC networks. However, there are certain areas during the trek where there may be no coverage at all.

The weather here differs in the different seasons. Usually, you don’t feel hot even during the summer seasons. The maximum temperature during the day is  25°C / 77°F and during the night is 20°C / -4°F  or lower.

You need to pack trekking pants, a hat, gloves, trekking boots, a backpack, a sleeping bag, and poles. You will also need a headlamp and flashlight during the trek. Sacks and purification is the must to pack for the trek. Essential items such as first aid, navigation, sun protection, power banks, toiletries, permits, and cash should be on your top list of packing.

ATMs are not available on the Everest Three Pass Trek after crossing the Namche Bazaar. You can find a few ATMS but they are unreliable because of frequent power outages and connectivity issues. We recommend you withdraw enough cash at Kathmandu or Lukla before starting your trek. You might find currency exchange services at Namche Bazaar. However, exchange rates in Namche are usually higher than in Kathmandu.
